Well, we're nearing the end of day 9. This is SO weird. I remember just last week I was perusing other jaw surgery blogs making my way to day 9 and thinking 'My god this is so far, am I ever even going to make it to day 9?!'
Good news: I have! And the pressure on my teeth has alleviated so much so other than the fact that I still feel pretty weak, and I still can't actually close my lips/mouth together but we'll give it time.
I finally finished my school work (hurrah) so I've got the weekend free of responsibility. Until Monday. When I go back to school. Which also means I have to leave the nest I've created this past week on the pull out couch in the living room and return to my room which will feel incredibly weird as I haven't actually slept there in over a week now....
Anyway, I haven't used ice packs in a long time now and I've only taken one pill today for pain so things are definitely looking up. I've been really lucky in my recovery so far in my opinion regarding swelling and pain and bruising (the yellow is practically gone now as far as I can see). I even managed to sleep in until 11:30 today!
I'm just really looking forward to the end of recovery so I can fully experience my new bite. I already have my first real meal planned, a Malibu chicken caesar wrap from a local restaurant called Red Rock Canyon. SO good, and finally I can bite into it like a normal person!!!
So funny when I enthuse about these things to my friends and family. They all look at me like "wow...you're excited about...biting into sandwiches". But if you're in the same boat as me, you totally know what I'm talking about!
I'm just so in love with my swollen face right now I can't imagine what it's going to be like when the swelling has gone down.
Anyway, I should probably get back to writing my NaNo considering I am WAY behind.
Good night! xx

Day 8
Hello!
I am posting to you from, surprise, the actual day!
Nothing too interesting happened today really.....I'm still taking my pain medication, but I haven't had the Ibuprofen for a few days. I found that even when it's been ground up really small and mixed into a smoothie, the pieces are still so bitter and they actually burn going down my throat. It's extremely unpleasant and my swelling hasn't been bad at all, so I just quit.
Yesterday was my last day for antibiotics, so I'm assuming that they don't expect any infections as long as I keep my mouth clean? Here's hoping haha.
I didn't eat much today now that I look back..probably not a good thing. My mom keeps telling me I need to be eating even when I'm not hungry, but it just takes so much effort to eat/drink anything and then clean myself up afterwards that I just don't feel like it (not feeling like eating...that's a first). We don't have a scale in the house so I can't say how much I've lost at this point, but I went into surgery at approximately 127 pounds. I've been in pajama pants this entire time and I wore a long skirt to the movies and I haven't noticed much change in fit, so I'm not really sure what to say.
I took a good look at my teeth today and noticed (I had sort of forgotten this was being fixed) that my teeth are now lined up! Like the midline, or whatever it is! That makes me even happier (:
So now my face will be even instead of my right cheek being larger. I also noticed that my nose looks a lot different now that my jaw is in the right place! Weird how one section of your face can alter the look of everything else!
Monday is back to school (Yippee......) so I'm frantically trying to finish those two essays my teacher gave me as alternate assignments (hopefully they don't expect it on the day I'm back...) and to finish my ISU novel for English as I'm only half done. It's a weird year for me, usually I would already be on my fourth book but I just haven't been in a reading mood lately. Maybe it's just the book, who knows.
Anyway, there isn't much else to say about today it was quite boring so, I bid you farewell for the night fellow jaw surgery goers! xx

MILESTONE - Day 7!!!
Cant believe its been a week already!!!! Wow (actually its Thursday at the time o writing but i forgot to post last night sorry x)
I made quite a bit of progress food wise. My syringe officially broke so I was basically forced to start drinking from a cup but I was supposed to start anyway so oh well. I actually did pretty well I think for first time, hardly any dribbling at all!
I drank some soup and Boost and my medication, and I even drank some mashed sweet potatoes (my favourite) watered down with a bit of milk so it wasn't too thick (or else it gets stuck in my upper lip. I'm not quite atspoon stage because of that)
My skin is also super dry like all over my face but mainly my nose I hate it! I've been putting Vaseline on my lips as well as Eucerin intensive lip balm which is great stuff, and I put Vaseline on my face mainly my nose too idk if that does anything but my mom says its good for dry skin so we'll see. I usually do a facewash thing but seeing as I have to really rub my face I don't think my jaw is ready for that just yet!
I also went out into public yesterday (other than my appointment which I don't count because I literally only passed one person on the way in and out). I went to the movies with my mom (we have this alternative film group in my city so not like the regular movies it's at the theatre down town) It was a really good Danish movie which i dont remember the name but it was about a teacher wrongly accused of touching a little girl and how it affects his life. Really moving I highly recommend it.
Anyway I also managed to get some school work done so theres one out of two projects done (well 2/3 theres still a bjt left but I got lazy). I've missed an entire unit of my world issues class and the test is the day I return (I dont have to do it) so catching up will be fun. My next appointment with Dr Barr is the second day back to school at eleven but luckily my class is doing the second part of the test so I won't be missing even MORE school. High school problems- miss a day and you catch up for two. A week is much much worse.
I also began my NaNoWriMo novel which since its a week in already I dont think I'll finish in time but oh well it's incentive to actually finish something I suppose.
Swelling on my left side has gone down a bit since day 6, but the right is still a bit yellow and swollen pretty much the same amount.
Still have minimal lip control and my bottom is still numb but I have all feeling in the top lip and nose (which I have to get repierced :( ) The only part still num right now is my chin right under my bottom lip, I've got feeling on both cheeks so thats good I think right.
I also managed to fit my proxy brush in behind my teeth so the other side is a bit cleaner which feels nice. I hate my teeth being dirty but I've managed to get them as clean as I can. Still there are extremely hard to reach places still not as clean as I'd like and it irritates me a lot.
But oh well what can ya do :P
There are twin girls at me school ( a year older) and our parents sort of know each other and apparently they're both having the same surgery and they're doing iy at he same time!! Next time my mom see's their parents she'll be giving themfair warning hahah! It's bad enough having one person down, but two? I can't even imagine!
Well I'll leave with some pictures I guess, hope everyone is having a lovely day (: xxx

Day 6
(yesterday) Day 6 is upon us meaning that tomorrow (today for me) marks the week milestone! Unbelieveable! It seemed absolutely ridiculous that I might ever even see the day.
Anyway, day 6 was uncomfortable as I still had that horrible pressure on my teeth, the tightened braces sensation I mentioned in day five. Fortunately as I, and most of you having similar surgery, have had braces on for a good two years we're sort of used to the pain. Its definitely worse than brace tightening and it lasts longer but I think past experience with the feeling is the ONLY reason I was able to bear it enough to get through the day.
I had a major lazy day once I got home though. I went out to my oral surgeons office (I was supposed to go Friday but we needed a refil on my medications so he said to just come early) Anyway I stopped in at my dentist and they were all excited o see me. Lately people have been making me smile/laugh and I'm really not appreciating it because it hurts like hell as my stitches keep pulling.
During my appointment Dr Barr basically told me I need to start moving my jaw and lips more (difficult to do but I see where he's coming from). He did a little checkup which hurt my upper lip aroundthe stitches and told me to start brushing so Ive got myself a little infant toothbrush decorate with baby tigger. I had to smile when my mom showed me which was very painful curse you cute baby tiggers.
SO I got more pain meds and as Dr Barr said even though its an ordeal and it's quite a bit worse than I expected, I'm the one who signed up for it so I've got to 'knuckle down'. I can't move my jaw much but I can tap it upside down and twitch my lips a bit so hopefully that's enough.
I also got a proxy brush in there after my rinse and picked out lots of lovely stuff, the. brushed with tigger (dipped in hydrogen peroxide and toothpaste) so now atleast the front of my teeth are pretty clean. I can't get in behind and it's super disgusting because I can feel the buildup on my teeth when I run my tongue along them it's really disconcerting.
Other than that little outing I spent the day watching the rest of the Hunger Games and the rest of Teen Wolf season 3. I ha some broccoli soup and then my dad came home and we watched Django Unchained (weird but pretty good) and it made me laugh in a few spots especially when my dad was laughing so that was fun but also painful. I drank my ginger ale through a syringe. Nothin tastes the same this way I can't wait for the straw phase to arrive.
Day 7 will be my first venture into cup drinking so here's hoping that goes well.
My mom keeps experimenting with new recipes and the house smells delicious.I think she chose this month to start on this cooking thing just to mock me and I've begun to develop a heightened sense of food smell.
Anyway I'll leave you with some pictures including profiles this time. (: xx

Day 5: about 500% done with this
Well I am a day away from the week milestone and I'm already done with this entire thing. I'm not regretting it anymore, but this is probably going to go down in history as one of my worst month or so ever (minus the load of time I get off work)
Right now it's technically Tuesday, day 6, since its midnight but I'm going to bed so I still count it as Monday at the moment. Anyway I am in a load of discomfort.
I really don't know what to classify as pain and/or discomfort. Altogether though I'd say I'm at about a 7/10. I don't even know how to really describe the feeling, but it's sort of the same pressure you feel after having your braces tightened. Usually taking my medications helps within twenty minutes but it hasn't done anything. I tried heat packs, but my jaw bra is no more and the socks (clean) I've been using instead are sort of stopping most of the heat. I'm going back to ice for the night so we'll see if that helps.
Yesterday was definitely the best day of this week for sure, my face felt pain free and I watched half of Supernatural season one, the last two Harry Potter movies which I missed last weekend, and three episodes of Breaking Bad season 2. Not at all productive..just the way I like my days
Unfortunately my medication (not the ibuprofen. I don't know what it's called, but it's the one the doctor in the ER prescribed instead of the Tylenol 3 with codeine) is now gone and my mom has to call Dr. Barr for a new prescription, and I'm stuck with regular Tylenol (WHICH DOESN'T HELP EVEN A FRACTION OF ENOUGH OMG)
MY FACE FEELS LIKE ITS TRYING TO RIP OPEN I WANT TO RIP OUT MY TEETH TBH
anyway the whole not brushing thing is not fun at all, I'm probably going to brush for about a month when this is over. My mom ironically just got into more cooking right before surgery so now she's making all of this delicious smelling food and my family is gushing over it while I sit here sipping my 653rd can of Boost.
I had broccoli soup...now there's a tiny piece of broccoli stuck in my splint. Ah I do not envy whoever takes that out for the first time. Bad breath and a foul splint all at once, it's too much. My mouth is like a living radiation zone honestly.
I had a bath today and learned that I am not a bath person...they're kind of pointless. Too hot, and I mean my tub is so no comfortable or deep so maybe that's a contributing factor. But I can't even read in it I'm too afraid of getting the book wet. So I went back to shower, and then went for a little stroll into my side yard, felt sick from standing so long, and then came inside and slept for five hours. I can't believe something so simple would ever be so exhausting.
Anyway this pain/discomfort is a bother so I'm going to try to get some sleep if that is even going to be possible tonight who knows.
I'm still hungry but that is basically impossible to quench because I get tired of everything after my second syringe of something (MY SYRINGE ALSO BROKE AND IDK WHERE TO GET A NEW ONE???)
I'll leave you with some pictures (I forgot to take profiles so I'll do those tomorrow)
May the odds be ever in your favour!! (I watched the Hunger Games tonight)

Day 4
This is either day three or four depending on if i start on surgery day or what all i know is that it is definitely worse than expected ! my pain right now is about 6/10, but whats really bothering me is the discomfort. my face feels tight and unmoveable, and there is a horrid taste in my mouth considered i havent been able to brush since tuesday (revolting). i managed a shower today which exhausted m so i drank some of my boost mixed with ibuprofen and had a bit of a sleep if thats what we want to call it.
ive had ice packs on my face pretty mich 24/7 and they dont feel great but it feels far worse with them off. i dont know how much help my blog in particular is but hey it gives me somethjng to do with my time.
i find that i get tired when i concentrate for an extended period of time on something but i havent actually been able to manage a good sleep. plus mu butt is numb from laying here most of the day and i cant grt comfy in thos sitting position. i might try a movie but idk how much ill even be able to enjoy it.
i dont jnow if ill do videos at this point i just dont really feel up to it right now. anyway, ive come a long way since yesterday and im feeling a lot less regretful but im still waiting for the turnaround because honestly at this point i might consider going back to before if i had the chance if only it meant relief.
im alos really looking forward to getting my lips and nose cleaned up once they dont hurt to rub sp much. after the whole vomiting thing theyre absolutely horrendous.

Day 3: not fun
its almost Saturday which i guess makes this day three? i dont know
i woke up this morning starving which we took as a good sign, so i got some boost into me along with my medicine which i was due for as well. my oral surgeon prescribed tylenol three with codeine i think (idek) and some amoxicillan or however that's spelled along with ibuprofen which apparently only comes liquidized in child form and can get exprnsive, so we;re crushing it up and mixing with the boost. it burns my throat when i swallow but whatever.
immediately afterwards though i began feeling nauseous and next thing i knew i was throwing up. that was 8 am and i was still sitting over a bucket at noon freaking out, crying and in major pain. alot of phone calls went back and forth before my mom finally just took me to the hospital emergency room and luckily the waiting people were very nice. there was a man there who gave my mom a hug as she was beginning to lose it and he rubbed my back a bit while she went to grab a kleenex and basically told every other person in the waiting room that i was going next. i felt sort of bad that we would be skipping the line, but no one seemed to oppose and i was inconsolable about to vomit everywhere so they let us go in ahead of them. still it took a good hour before finally the doctor gave me an IV with morphine and gravol (which i had taken orally around 11 and didnt keep down). that helped me immensely and although the ER was fairly slow, all of the nurses were super nice and made me feel a lot better (the IB helped too) All i can say is i am SO glad for Canada's healthcare system.
Anyway im back home now feeling blah but not sick, with a new medication (idr what the name is) and no codeine (the ER doctor and nurses all said it was too much for someone as young as me). the nurse who wheeled me out actually had this surgery many years ago so she was empathetic.
i really need a shower though , and as we apparently cant buy crushed ice and cubes hurt my cheeks we are using frozen veggies which i cant tell if those are also omitting a smell now.
all i know is i cant wait for this to be over and im sorry if this post is a bit odd but im tired and its hard to type on my iphone
